Are you a ‘business card bomber’? Seven Networking mistakes to avoid
Unfortunately these types can be found at just about every networking event: over-eager networkers who thrust their business card at you and launch into a monologue about their company.
Business coach Melanie Miller calls it “biz card bombing” and it's her biggest networking gripe.
"There is zero connection, they ask no questions and have little to no interest in anyone else's business," she says.
A better way to get your message across is to establish a more meaningful connection with a small number of people at the event, says Miller.
"A great lesson I learned years ago was to take no more than three business cards to an event," she says.
"Seek out the three people you most would like to form a relationship with and to follow up after the event. It worked well for me."
