Body Arts showcase in Queensland
Sharing what i read today : Came upon this well written and humourous article by Trent Dalton at News.com.au. The Australian Body Arts Carnivale looks like a must visit if you are in the area of Eumundi, Queensland which will held on the 21 & 22nd September 2008. Also great submission/showcase opportunities for various type of artist (photographer, body arts, wearable art + more).
Read the full article and then hop on to the Carnivale's website for full information and more visual feast.
Spence said she needed me in my underpants to fully realise the body art piece she had planned: a full-body landscape reflecting the “natural world” theme of the Australian Body Art Carnivale being held in the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Eumundi later this month. My feet would be the earth, she said. My legs would be several layers of rocky strata. A river would flow across my chest. My raised hand would be the sun and from my palm would spring a radiant flower. I checked Spence's eyes for signs of pot consumption. She smiled warmly. She was clean.
Body art … using the body as a canvas – can be seen in everything from tribal scarification, tattooing and body piercing to techniques that will be seen at the upcoming carnivale – airbrushing, special effects and sponge and brush.
